City based Insurer is seeking to recruit a Claims Adjuster.

You will manage Ports & Terminals and Marine Liabilities lines claims received at individual and portfolio level, optimising spend and achieving high levels of satisfaction for the insured and broker through high quality claims management, resolution and excellent client service.

The candidate will need to be proactive in their approach and determined to succeed in developing the skills required. This is a great opportunity for someone who his interested in developing their career to the next level in Claims and who is willing to learn.



- Managing claims from notification to closure, investing the necessary level of involvement required for each claim depending on the nature, category, maturity, type and value of the claim.

- Following at all times Claims Reserving Philosophy and Claims Standards.

- Developing, documenting, communicating and executing claims strategies taking into account uncertainties, key decisions, potential outcomes and estimated associated costs.

- Reviewing individual claims within the portfolio and keeping reserves and records up to date as required by claims controls and standards.

- Identifying issues and trends in the portfolio and taking appropriate and/or corrective action.

- Keeping Finance advised of any material claims as set out in the claims authority, protocols and procedures.

- Contributing to marketing and underwriting strategies and future business development.

- Providing input to underwriters on review of potential or existing insured's claims experience.

- Reporting and analysing claims trends and developments and their potential impact on the book.

- Operating within approved claims authority at all times.

- Having thorough working knowledge of industry regulations and minimum standards to ensure compliance with the regulations and UK's claims and underwriting control standards and protocols.

- Understanding and implementing as appropriate UK's "Treating Customers Fairly" policy as it relates to UK's claims function.

- Attend external events to network in the market and to continue to build the IGI brand.

- Working closely with the Underwriters and the Claims team in London and Amman as necessary.

- Assisting the UK Claims Manager in day to day claims administration.



- Degree level education or equivalent

- A minimum of 2 years claims handling or related experience in the insurance industry with Physical Loss Damage experience

- A keen interest in own self professional development. Will need to be CII qualified or studying towards the CII, as well as regularly attending training events to continue their own professional development

- General computer literacy (excel, word, powerpoint etc)

- Strong team player who is also able to work on own initiative within authority limits

- Excellent attention to detail in order to maintain accuracy of data and file records

- Customer focused, providing excellent customer service skills both internally to the team and to Underwriters, as well as externally, with clients

- The candidate needs to be a self-starter, who can manage high volumes during busy periods, has the ability to take and execute instructions and meet deadlines. Must work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks, especially during busy periods.

- Excellent Interpersonal skills: active listener, purposeful communication, confident interaction, and ability to work within a team
