Department overview

The Claims department aim to be market-leaders in the provision of an efficient, cost-effective and professional service to our brokers and clients. Their vision is to be the most customer focused, nimble and value adding claims team in the market. This team work closely with the other teams, both inside and outside of the company.



Duties and accountabilities

·Working with Delegated Underwriting, Legal, Regulatory and Compliance and the Claims Divisional Heads conduct a review of the delegated claims handling end to end process to include coverholder and TPA due diligence; performance against SLAs; production of delegated reports; production and oversight of the annual audt schedule. Post-review to carry out ongoing management of the delegated claims handling process and recommend any changes to our processes.

·Working with the Claims Divisional Heads and Legal, Regulatory and Compliance conduct an end to end review of the Claims Department's Expert Panel process and implement changes to ensure the Panel is fit for purpose and required TOBAs are in place. Post-review to carry out ongoing oversight of the Expert Panel.

·Management of the Claims peer review process including: completing a sample of peer reviews; collating and analysing the data; and where necessary working with the Claims Divisional Heads to ensure that peer reviews are completed and submitted within the quarterly cycle. Identify any deficiencies and/or improvements and report on these to the Head of Claims Operations.

·Oversight of the Claims Handling Manual, to include collating any feedback from the claims team about any uncertainties or requests for clarifications or ideas for improvements.

·Ensuring the Manual is kept up to date, relevant, accurate and complete.

·Management of the Claims Authority process, to include any improvements to this process and to make it as smooth and accurate as possible.

·Participating in Market working groups representing the company, and to report back on any regulatory or market initiatives, and to consider and report on any impact this may have.

·Project management of Claims change initiatives.

·Working with the other members of the Claims Operations Team, Divisional Heads and team members, in order to recommend, manage and deliver changes / upgrades / enhancements for claims for systems and workflow tools and associated metrics and benefits.



Skills, knowledge and experience

·Extensive experience in a claims operational environment or equivalent

·Knowledge of the regulatory environment for claims management and oversight

·Knowledge of due diligence, performance management and audit requirements for outsourcing claims handling to third parties

·The ability to build, maintain and influence relationships across an organisation

·Experience in managing projects and delivering change initiatives

·Strong Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel, and general IT systems skills

·An aptitude and willingness to learn in-house and external claims systems

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
